The Lucky Luger Ch 1 - 9

As the war rages on in Europe, new assignments are handed down to Platoon S35, as well as Hank on the other side of the coin.  As the winter snow de-thawed, the German Army has been pushed passed the Seigfred Line. Fritz & his S35 Finally made contact with other German units. After a brief re-supply & rest at a nearby assembly area, The story continues....

1.  Major Beck- "Fritz! Fritz. I have good news & bad news for you & your men." Fritz-"Vats the bad news?"
Beck-"Bad news! You have all been transferred. You have done so well behind enemy lines, and returning with S35 in one piece, That command feels you are ready for a larger assignment. With the crew & armor shortages, The Stuttgart factory has been going deep pocket for more armor. They have some thing special waiting just for you. You and your men will take command of unit 178."

2.  Fritz-" What about S35?" Beck-" S35 is an old tank, and is pretty much warn out, The Allies are encrusted about the Seigfred Line now, but are preparing to cross it. To postpone their attack, command has conjured up what ever they can find including S35. They will be engaging the enemy to buy us more time to prepare for the defense of the Fatherland, & maybe even Berlin. Fritz- Who is the new commander & why? Beck-" Oberlt. Karlfurst." Fritz-" Why him?" Beck-" He & his men planted lots of the obstacles and traps that are now holding back the enemy., he knows the best area to slip in the enemy lines.  Fritz-" My crew loved our tank, it was our house, they will be disappointed, tell Karlfurst to take good care of her." Beck- "Fritz, he will."

3.  Meanwhile on the other side of the line .Brigadier General Willard-" Hank! Hank! Hank!" Hank-"What now?" BG Willard-" You are going to do some enemy engagement, you are assigned with some elements of the 101st Airborne to defend an obstacle inlet just before this cross road. Intelligence believes the enemy is preparing a counter offensive ,to move some units, possibly armor to break out for here in the Seigfred Line. If they do we will be in big trouble again." Hank- "If they are there, I'll stop'em." Willard-" I may be able to squeeze some extra hardware for you. so good luck."

Later that day...
On the main road to the Stuttgart factory...

4.  Fritz-" Damn that command , taking my tank". Ball-" Ja, ja just another hunk of rusty metal!" . Ferdinand-" Maybe its something better, sleeker like a nice Panther, or a Jagd-Panther." Volker- "Agh, who cares, at least they gave us this vagen, I rather have this, at least they don't try to blow it up all the time."

5.  Fritz-"I vonder what my poor tiger tank is doing now."

6.  Mean while 10 miles away on the Seigfred Line, a faint rumble of steel is heard near the woods, Hank and his men are preparing a warm party.

7.  GI George-"Captain! I can see something large smashing trees like toothpicks, you picked a perfect spot its coming this way."

8.  Hank-"Look alive men, do everything as I said and we may live threw this."

9.  GI Sal-" Capt! I see them coming!" Hank-"Keep it down! Remember what I said POINT BLANK!"

10.  George- "100 yrds & closing fast!"

11.  Hank-"A little bit to the left."

12.  CLANK ! CLANKITY! CLANK! CLANKITY! VORROOM!

13.  Clank Clankity! Karlfurst-"Halt! " Tank loader-"Should we send the the infantry ahead first?"

14.  Karfurst-"No, it seams clear, the opening threw the obstacles should be directly in front of us, we have had no enemy fire as of yet! all looks quiet, Lets take advantage of the situation, forward! Once we clear the opening head for the high ridge on the left, this way it will give us nice fire control position."

15.  Hank-"So far so good! Lets rattle them up a bit, ok everyone, begin phase 1, have John call in the mortar barrage at those coordinates."
